Branding and Content: Keep the Logo, Change Everything Else!
Our marketing team knew we were in for a fun challenge when they faced 200 pages to review. So the very first task was determining which pages needed to stay, which would be combined or condensed, and which should be removed entirely. Working alongside Firstmark, we were able to go from 200 to 120 pages, cutting down the project cost and time requirements.
With a clean sitemap, it was up to our search engine optimization team to work in new key terms on every page to help with the future growth and discoverability with Google. Every page was combed through several times by multiple people to make sure all boxes were checked. Another major task was getting the sitemap into a new menu setup that makes sense for users of all ages and devices.
We needed to make all 120 accessible, whether this was via the menu, search features or within major pages where it made sense. Once a page passed its copy check, the linking requirements, and the SEO standard, it was pushed to design!
Who Says Banking Websites Can’t Be Fun?
Firstmark handed our design team a logo and a new spokesperson, Feliz, to build their new brand identity. With the addition of Feliz added a new life and personal touch to this banking website design that we really loved. By helping users via video with answers to complex questions around banking and the how-tos of the website, a new twist for Firstmark’s name and brand was born.
With Feliz in mind, our design team decided the website’s look and feel should take a similar approach with brighter colors, fun shapes and movement. We wanted to incorporate pictures of people just as diverse as their users to make all users feel seen and reflect the diversity of the community Firstmark services.

A Functional Website with Intent and Purpose
Firstmark’s team needed automation to ease the stress of how many rates they update on any given month. Their team had to go page by page and keep a matrix to do these things manually, it was extremely time consuming and one missed area could cost them. Our development team got to work creating that same matrix in the backend of the website where the banking group can change a rate once and it will be applied to all pages where that rate is visible.
Another area that’s repeated on nearly every page are the disclaimers, these also need to be updated regularly. Again we saw an opportunity to ease the stress of upkeep. The development team created an area of the website where disclaimers can be updated once and then applied to all pages where that specific disclaimer is displayed.
The same approach was done to the login and signup features! We worked them into a similar system so the Firstmark team can easily manage several types of logins and signups. In true responsive design fashion, we took into consideration those who would be on mobile devices trying to purchase cars or get quotes for a home on the go. These logins and signups work on every type of device without loss of usability.
Everything within the website’s capabilities had the intent of making the management and useability of the website simpler and faster for both Firstmark and their users.
